4th and 5th grade students at Sage Elementary, along with many parents, participated in a two hour STEAM exploration activity to kick off the weekend. Students worked in groups through as many “missions” as possible to explore a variety of hands-on activities that included science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Each team was allocated a certain number of points based on difficulty and completion of each activity. Students were excited, engaged, a bit overwhelmed at times, and energetic at the opportunity to figure out new challenges as a group. Parents were just as involved as they worked through these challenges with their team. And, even though prizes were only given to the first, second, and third place teams, everyone who participated deserved an award for their perseverance and determination to complete the challenges together. Great job to all!
